Kitchen remodel? Here are some things to watch out for...

LOOK FOR THESE THINGS...

1. CREDIBILITY- Do they even HAVE references? If so, are they real or something they wrote themselves?

2. ESTABLISHED (and how long?)- Do they have a website, address (showroom), email, business phone and FAX?

3. PRODUCT OFFERINGS- If they’re for real and established, they’ll have recognized brands with full warranties.

.....Cabinetry- Not the ones made in China and screwed together when they arrive.

.....Fixtures-Kohler faucets, Elkay sinks, etc. Do they have accounts with factory dists. or do they just go to Home Depot?

.....Counter tops-Cambria, Corian, etc. A Granite warehouse to select your own slabs.

4. SPECIAL OFFERS- A full kitchen for $3000.00?...yeah, right. There’s nothing new in our industry. “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.”

5. PICS OF THEIR WORK- So many just glean images from the web. Are their images from some magazine…beautifully decorated and professionally photographed with perfect lighting? Do they have the “before” pics?

6. RELIABILITY- So many “remodelers”, “handymen” and “contractors” do kitchens along with everything else they do. You’ll be offered attractive pricing and time frames to get your deposit. After that come the add-ons and delays, but you’re stuck in a contract.

If any of these situations exist, your dream kitchen can end up as your nightmare kitchen.
